Edgar and Couture are Leading in UFC 118

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 118 was marked by triumphs via submission and unanimous decision, with Frankie Edgar and Randy Couture leading the list of victors.

Edgar successfully defended his UFC lightweight title after defeating former champion BJ Penn by unanimous decision.

Couture, meantime, overcame former champion boxer James Toney at 3:19 of Round 1 by submission (arm triangle choke).

Demian Maia won over Mario Miranda and Gray Maynard defeated Kenny Florian.

Nate Diaz, Joe Lauzon, Dan Miller and Mike Pierce, meantime, conquered their opponents via submission.

Diaz beat Marcus Davis with a modified guillotine choke at 4:02 of Round 3, Lauzon won over Gabe Ruediger with an armbar at 2:01 of Round 1, Miller defeated John Salter with an anaconda choke at 1:53 of Round 2 and Pierce dominated Amilcar Alves with an arm lock at 3:11 of Round 3.

Nik Lentz and Greg Soto were also winners in UFC 118 by unanimous decision. Lentz got past Andre Winner while Soto outlasted Nick Osipczac.

Official awarded UFC 118’s Submission of the Night award to Lauzon and Fight of the Night to Diaz and Davis. Each fighter received $60,000 for the honors.
