Nancy Dolman, the wife of Canadian actor-comedian Martin Short, died on the past weekend at the couple’s home in Pacific Palisades (California), a representative for the actor told E! News today, but he refuses to give any word about the cause of death.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency at the family’s home early Saturday morning, a celebrity gossip website reported, but no further details were provided.
Nancy was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and died at the age of 58.
Short, who is best known for his comedy work in the TV shows SCTV and Saturday Night Live, met Dolman while performing in a 1972 Toronto production of Godspell in the 1970s. They got married in 1980. The couple has three kids: Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24, and Henry, 20.
Martin Short is nominated for an Emmy Award for his supporting role as a corrupt lawyer in Damages. He has won two Emmys in his career, from 10 nominations. He also recorded the voice of the Cat in the Hat for this summer’s PBS/Treehouse series, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!
