Shuker into Korea Open doubles final

British No 1 Lucy Shuker will contest Saturday’s women’s doubles final at the Korea Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Seoul.

Shuker and her Australian doubles partner Daniela di Toro beat Japan’s Naomi Ishimoto and Miho Ueno 6-0, 6-2 in their semi-final and the top seeds now go on to face either unseeded Koreans Myung-Hee Hwang and Ju-Yeon Park or Japanese second seeds Kanako Domori and Yuko Okabe.
Shuker, who currently has a world No 7 doubles ranking, will be bidding for her second ITF 1 Series doubles title in a month after being successful at last month’s Cajun Classic in Louisiana, USA.
Meanwhile, Shuker saw her women’s singles challenge come to an end in Friday’s semi-finals as she took on di Toro.  With the Australian currently in fine form after winning last week’s Japan Open, world No 5 and second seed di Toro held off a determined first set effort from fourth seed Shuker and went on to clinch a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
